There is at least a scientific basis for avoiding NSAIDs that is related to how the coronavirus and NSAIDs both influence kidney function through regulation of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system. There is not as far as I could find clinical data to support a specific problem with NSAIDs and COVID-19. But you can make a case for it based on the ACE2-COX kidney connection.
